The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, documenting, validating, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes, related to the manufacture, inspection and packaging of lathed intraocular lenses.

 

Primarily supports Clearwater manufacturing, support teams and maybe requested to support other Bausch and Lomb facilities as needed. Will not have any direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support  process improvements for existing manufacturing processes including lathing, polishing, milling and packaging
  • Provide support for increasing product quality, capacity  and process productivity enhancements
  • Provide support for new process transfer into production
  • Authoring reports for studies, qualifications, validations and final reports
  • Execution of protocols and Gage R&R's
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, QA, R&D, engineers and other groups to capture all necessary input
  • Coordination of process engineering activities and small projects
  • Others to be assigned by the Engineering Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical or equivalent.
  • Comfortable following the Scientific Method and developing hypotheses during the troubleshooting process.
  • Problem solving skills, Engineering Design skills and Project Management skills. Good Written communication skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiar with Statistical Analysis tools and techniques such as: DOE, Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing, ergonomics, process flow, material handling and/or assembly fixture design.
  • SolidWorks CAD skills and CNC programming are a plus.
  • 0-1 year related experience with some exposure to manufacturing settings.
