Overview

Responsible for strategic and tactical purchasing activities for direct materials necessary to support the Greenville Manufacturing site. Participate in supplier development and evaluation process, plan requirements and manage order placement with selected vendors. Must rely on extensive experience, industry/commodity knowledge, and sound analysis to plan and accomplish global sourcing and procurement goals and objectives. Subject matter expert for given commodities including staying current on purchasing best practices, and market trends and conditions. Participate and support multi-disciplined teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies and tactics. Manage supplier relationships to drive improvements in total cost of ownership through RFI/RFQ/RFP process, and support new product development. Support lean project initiatives to improve efficiency of purchasing operations.

Responsibilities

Procure and negotiate all related contacts associated with the sites direct materials to support Greenville operation.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies to manage critical commodities both on a local and global basis.

Develop and maintain expertise for given commodities and industries inclusive of cost drivers, supply constraints and supplier base both on a local, national and global basis.

Develop, implement and manage risk mitigation programs utilizing cross-functional teams.  Leverage expertise across Bausch & Lomb business units/locations.

Identify and present potential business opportunities to the Management Team.  Collaborate with other B&L business units as warranted.   Monitor, measure and report Supplier performance in the areas of quality, delivery and customer service.

Support Lean initiatives. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: BA or BS with related experience required. MS/MBA/CPM/CPIM a plus.

 

Experience: 3-6 Years of experience in purchasing and supply chain. Engineering and operations experience is desired. Experience in logistics or production planning, a plus. Proven experience in RFI/RFP/RFQ development, evaluation, negotiations, execution, and contract management. Demonstrated proficiency in developing procurement strategies which comprehend and contribute to overall business objectives is a must. Candidate must have applied experience in the understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques used in the development of complex contractual agreements. In addition, the candidate must have a proven capability in workload management, exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal skills, problem solving skills, and significant experience with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with MRP and e-procurement tools a plus.
