The Senior Research Scientist in Microbiology on testing Acanthamoeba species for both regulatory requirements for 510(k) submissions for medical devices and on-going research and development activities. In addition, the senior research scientist will lead a team of microbiologists in methods development and validation of methodology based on ISO standards and FDA guidelines to ensure compliance. The senior research scientist must have excellent writing skills and oral skills to communicate results to a broad group of individual across all functional groups within Vision Care. Experience in maintaining active Acanthamoeba cultures highly desirable including inducing encystment of these organisms. A strong background in fluorescent microscopy highly beneficial.
The senior research scientist must have a bachelor degree with 5+ years experience, a master degree with 3+ years experience or a PhD with 1 year experience in a microbiological field in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Experience in managing a team of microbiologists and strong leadership skills preferred. Must be organized and be able to manage multiple project and research activities.
