    Responsibilities

    Position Description

    The U.S. National Sales Director is a key leadership position within the Salix commercial organization. This person will be responsible for strategically leading a team of Regional Sales Directors, District Managers, and Territory Managers. The successful candidate will contribute in-depth sales management expertise; work closely with internal stakeholders up to senior levels and external partners. This position will be responsible for increasing sales and meeting objectives and is accountable for the overall success of the Primary Care Team.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies
    • Lead nationwide sales team members to achieve sales targets
    • Analyze sales and operations data to monitor sales progress and develops corrective plans to improve sales force effectiveness/efficiency
    • Collaborate with cross-functional brand team and critical business partners to develop and execute national sales strategies and tactics
    • Demonstrate a firm grasp of industry trends, understands market conditions, and develops strategies to stay ahead of the competition
    • Create a culture where patients and customers are at the center of thinking and operations for the entire organization
    • Create a culture of compliance where members of the sales team are adequately trained in all areas of healthcare compliance and adhere to the highest levels of ethical promotional standards
    • Work with brand marketing team and strategic partners to develop a plan of action that optimizes promotional impact and takes advantage of current and future market opportunities
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual business updates
    • Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with the teams needs
    • Increase sales by coaching, mentoring, supporting and managing the Regional Sales Directors
    • Provide direction and training/development opportunities to direct reports
    • Routinely communicate with Regional Sales Directors to share success stories, best practices, etc.
    • Work in the field with District Managers and Territory Managers to keep abreast of current field challenges
    • Ensure that Regional Sales Directors provide direction and coaching that fosters promotions efforts by Territory Managers that are compliant
    • Design and provide possible solutions to field issues and challenges

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline is required
      • MBA preferred
    • A minimum of four years of successful pharmaceutical sales management experience and a minimum of 10 years of related pharmaceutical sales, marketing and/or training experience
    • Recent in-depth experience in Gastroenterology
    • Outstanding business acumen, leadership, business case development, and budget management skills; demonstrated ability to drive the performance of large teams
    • Leads by example, displaying integrity, collaboration, accessibility, adaptability, sound judgment/decision making, and an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented attitude
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organizational and workload planning skills are required
    • Experience managing a high performance sales team
    • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude
    • Travel Expectation: 50-75%
