    Facilitate the Valeant Legal department’s efforts to promote an environment and culture of business partnership, through the provision of exceptional legal support as primary in-house legal counsel to a growing business segment. The incumbent must be able to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment.  Responsible for ensuring internal business and legal alignment on key matters.  Collaborating with senior management, lawyers and compliance professionals to provide strategic guidance and pragmatic solutions, with an emphasis on partnering with the business on key initiatives for the overall success of the organization.  The role in conjunction with the department head will be the primary legal support for the Ortho Dermatologics business and provide secondary support to the larger Branded Rx segment as necessary.  We are seeking an individual with the utmost degree of professionalism and integrity, capable of handling a wide array of matters relating to general legal support of a business, including but not limited to, counseling on sales and marketing matters, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, advising regulatory and medical teams and other general legal advice to the businesses in furtherance of the both the business’s and legal department strategic goals. Importantly, this role is for someone who has an industrious and self-motivated approach with a desire to develop personally and professionally.  As a senior legal executive, this attorney will be expected to interact with senior business leaders. 



    • Provides counsel to marketing, regulatory and medical teams on advertising and promotional regulations, fraud and abuse laws, and business and contract issues in our day-to-day operations
    • Provides legal advice regarding commercial and development operations
    • Drafts and reviews a variety of commercial agreements, including supply and manufacturing contracts and agreements with distributors
    • Provides general legal advice to support commercial operations of Ortho Dermatologics business, including working on multiple product launches
    • Other tasks/assignments as required by manager or General Counsel


    • Strong communication and inter-personal skills are essential, with ability and comfort working with leaders at all levels of the organization and with a commercial team
    • Must be detail oriented and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
    • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, and a strong work ethic focused on providing excellent customer service; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and exhibits excellent judgment, is high integrity and solution oriented
    • Able to work independently and under time constraints in a fast paced and dynamic environment
    • Law degree and bar admission required, with ability to qualify for NJ In-House Counsel admission
    • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, with prior in-house counsel experience strongly preferred, ideally within the life sciences industry. Candidates should have experience working for a major law firm prior to transitioning to in house.
    • Regulatory counseling experience
    • Skilled in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and familiar with licensing and royalty agreements
    • Ability to not only analyze complex legal matters, but articulate such matters in a clear and concise manner.
